When to go

Day: Monday–Thursday, particularly for less queueing and more room at the railings near sunset.
Time: Reserve a clear-day slot 45–60 minutes before sunset and stay through blue hour for daylight, sunset, and illuminated skyline views. · Clear mornings shortly after the 8 a.m. opening are best for quieter photography, cleaner light, and easier railing access. · Night is best for the lit Empire State Building and Midtown grid, but does not replace a daylight Central Park view.
Avoid: Skip or reschedule in low cloud, fog, heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong wind, extreme cold, or poor air clarity; request the operator's weather-guarantee rescheduling if eligible.
