Step 1
Check the event-day map and assigned gate
Gate openings vary by event and day; use the gate nearest your seat or parking assignment rather than relying on a permanent gate list.
Step 2
Present digital or printed event ticket
Event access requires admission or a ticket. For digital tickets, raise screen brightness before scanning.
Step 3
Walk-through security screening
Expect a security scan and bag search. At the 2026 Indy 500, CEIA OPENGATE devices allowed guests to walk through without emptying pockets or removing clothing.
Step 4
Walk to your seat or viewing area
Allow at least 45 minutes from gate to seat, excluding the walk from parking; allow substantially more time on Indy 500 Race Day.
Fine
Not allowed
No cloakroom or item-check service. Prohibited items cannot be left at the gates and may need to be discarded. Bags are subject to search; recheck event-specific rules before travel.

IMS provides accessible and companion seating, accessible parking, ramps/elevators for non-ground-level accessible seating, and internal access shuttles. Internal carts operate only inside the gates and cannot collect passengers from exterior parking; Race Day pickup periods can be restricted around the green flag and after the finish. Choose accessible parking rather than relying on a cart for a long exterior walk.
