Visas & entry
Mexico’s entry rules depend on nationality. Citizens of the United States, Canada, the EU, UK, Japan and many Latin American countries can generally visit visa-free for tourism, but the immigration officer determines the permitted stay and may ask for onward travel and accommodation details. Check current Mexican government and airline requirements before departure.

A rental car is the best tool for any itinerary linking Valle de Bravo, Malinalco, Ixtapan, Monarch sanctuaries, El Oro or Aculco; it gives you flexibility on slow roads and avoids awkward taxi connections. Buses work well for Teotihuacán and can serve Toluca and Valle de Bravo, but they are poor for chaining different clusters together. Use Toluca-Metepec or San Juan Teotihuacán as public-transport bases, and avoid treating Valle de Bravo as an effortless add-on without a car.
Money
Use Mexican pesos. Cards are normal in hotels, restaurants and larger shops in Toluca and Valle de Bravo, but carry cash for markets, buses, small-town taxis, sanctuary guides and food stalls. Tipping around 10–15% in sit-down restaurants is customary when service is not included.
