Oracabessa and GoldenEye
Base · 3–4 nights
The best first base in the parish: Ian Fleming’s GoldenEye, the Oracabessa Bay Fish Sanctuary, and the most reliable combination of swimming, lodging and day-trip access. The Bond connection is real, but the village itself is tiny—come for a well-located coastal stay, not a museum circuit.
Port Maria
Base · 1–3 nights
St Mary’s working parish capital is where the region feels least curated: harbor views, fish lunches, Pagee Beach, historic civic buildings and Cabarita Island offshore. It is faded and functional rather than pretty, which is exactly the point.
Firefly and Galina
Short stop · 1 day
The hill-and-coast area east of Port Maria is worth the drive for Firefly, Noël Coward’s former home, burial place and one of the parish’s strongest views. Confirm access before setting out; this is a small heritage stop, not an all-day museum.
Boscobel and Rio Nuevo
Short stop · 1 day
A practical western gateway near Ian Fleming International Airport, with the Rio Nuevo heritage landscape close by. Use it for an easy arrival or departure and for Taíno and colonial-history context, not as a destination with a busy town center.
Annotto Bay
Short stop · 1 day
The eastern coast’s unfiltered market town, with roadside seafood, a working-town rhythm and access toward Robin’s Bay. Stay or visit for ordinary parish life rather than polished beaches, nightlife or a long restaurant list.
Robin's Bay
Short stop · 1 day
This is the parish’s low-key northeast coast: quiet coves, big sea views and very little development. It rewards travelers with a confirmed place to stay or beach access and a firm transport plan.
Castleton and the Wag Water Valley
Short stop · 1 day
The most worthwhile interior detour for Castleton Botanical Gardens, mature tropical planting and a cooler-feeling river-valley drive. Make it a relaxed half-day paired with lunch or Highgate, not a rushed add-on to a coast day.
Highgate and Gayle
Base · 2 nights
St Mary’s agricultural interior—bananas, breadfruit, citrus and small farms—rather than another beach stop. Come with a booked farm visit or countryside plan; there is little reason to overnight without one.
Scott's Hall
Short stop · 1 day
An official Maroon community in the southern hills, offering the parish’s strongest counterpoint to Bond and beach narratives. Visit only through an arranged, respectful local contact; it is a living community, not a drop-in cultural show.
Compact first visit
4 days / 3 nightsOracabessa and GoldenEye (3 nights) → Port Maria (1 day trip) → Firefly and Galina (Half-day stop)
Keep one base in Oracabessa and GoldenEye rather than wasting a short trip changing hotels. Use it for the sanctuary or a confirmed beach day, then make one coastal day trip to Port Maria; add Firefly only if access is confirmed in advance.

7 days / 6 nightsOracabessa and GoldenEye (3 nights) → Boscobel and Rio Nuevo (Half-day stop) → Port Maria (3 nights) → Firefly and Galina (Half-day stop) → Annotto Bay (Half-day stop) → Robin's Bay (1 day trip)
A sensible split for travelers who want both Oracabessa’s better lodging and Port Maria’s working-town character. Boscobel and Rio Nuevo work on arrival or departure; use Port Maria as the eastern base for Firefly, Annotto Bay and a slow Robin's Bay coast day.

For travelers with a rental car or committed private driver who want more than Bond references and beach time. Start on the west coast, move east through Port Maria and Robin's Bay, then finish inland for a farm-focused stay, Castleton Gardens and a prearranged Scott's Hall visit. Do not attempt this route by improvising taxis on mountain roads.
